We understand that it is a big step for anyone who is recently separated, or thinking about separating from their spouse or partner, to make an appointment to see a solicitor. At Owen Kenny we offer a professional, yet empathetic approach when dealing with all your concerns at our first meeting.

Separating from a spouse or partner, and dealing with the emotional and financial consequences of the relationship breakdown, is one of the most difficult times in a person’s life. Hannah Rogers, a solicitor in our Family Team, wants to reassure those worried about taking legal advice that they are in safe hands at Owen Kenny. She says “My role as your solicitor will be to provide you with advice and support. You will likely be disclosing sensitive information regarding your personal life, finances and children. I endeavour to build a level of trust and understanding in our first appointment, so that you can feel confident that your matter will be handled with great care and attention.”

At an initial appointment we can provide advice on all areas of family law, including divorce, finances and children matters. At the end of the initial appointment we will advise you of the next steps available to you depending on the route you decide to take. Hannah says, “I like for my clients to leave the initial appointment with a clearer picture of the process that lies ahead of them. I never put pressure on my clients to make decisions straight away, as I know for some it will be very early days. I will be here for them as and when they feel ready to begin.”

There is no need for you to bring anything with you to the initial appointment but it can be helpful if you have details of financial assets, pensions and properties. If you would like to discuss arrangements for children then you might want to consider in advance what arrangements you would like to be put in place upon separating.

If you would like to make an appointment to meet with Hannah at our South Street office then please do not hesitate to call her on 01243 832404.
