Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) changes from 1st April 2025
A reminder to all that, as of 1 April 2025, the threshold for payment of SDLT on a residential transaction reduces from £250,000 to £125,000 and the threshold for claiming first-time buyer relief reduces from £425,000 to £300,000. This could affect the amount of Stamp Duty that buyers pay. It is effective from the date of completion and not exchange of contracts.
